| can someone explain to me in Layman's terms how to use this extension? |

Sure.. create a movieclip with an animation in it and give it an instance name.
Then on a different layer (not inside the animation) drag the mouseover component..
In the component properties just give the component the instance name you gave your animation.. now when you run build your movie in AS2.0 it will run the animation forwards onmouseover and backwards onmouseout..
You can also create a separate button area to activate the animation and pass it to the component.
The best way to learn how to use this component might be to download the example file on this forum and check how it's setup.

roger that! Too bad for me. Any suggestions on where to grab simple mouseover functionality in AS3 would be most welcome.
